A breast lift (mastopexy) answers a precise question: “my breasts dropped — how do I bring them back?”. In Medellín we use modern techniques that minimize scarring and preserve nipple sensation.

Quick essentials

  • Three main techniques: periareolar, vertical (lollipop), inverted-T (Wise). Choice depends on ptosis grade.
  • Can be done with or without implant. Without: restores shape. With: restores shape + volume.
  • Indicated after pregnancy, breastfeeding, weight loss, or natural aging.
  • Pricing in Medellín: USD 3,300 – 5,400 (with implant).

What does mastopexy actually do?

It repositions the nipple-areola complex higher and removes excess skin generated when the breast descended. It does not add volume by itself: if your breast is empty as well as drooping, you need mastopexy + implant (“augmentation mastopexy”).

Ptosis grades — how dropped is my breast?

We use the Regnault classification:

  • Grade I (mild): nipple at the level of the inframammary fold. Treatable with periareolar lift or implant alone.
  • Grade II (moderate): nipple below fold but above lower pole. Vertical lift is ideal.
  • Grade III (severe): nipple points downward. Requires inverted-T technique.
  • Pseudoptosis: tissue dropped, nipple in place. Treated differently.

Mastopexy techniques

Periareolar (Benelli technique)

Scar only around the areola. For grade I ptosis. Least invasive, also most limited: lifts the nipple a few centimeters and reduces areolar diameter.

Vertical / “lollipop” mastopexy

Scar around the areola + vertical scar to the fold. For grade II ptosis. Allows greater lift, better projection and base reduction. Most-requested technique in Medellín.

Inverted-T / anchor / Wise mastopexy

Periareolar + vertical + horizontal scar in the fold. For grade III ptosis and post–weight-loss mastopexy. The most extensive scar, but the only way to reposition large amounts of tissue.

With or without implant?

Without implant: ideal if you like your breast volume but the shape is gone. Restores position and projection without adding size.

With implant: indicated when, beyond drooping, you’ve lost volume (typical post-pregnancy or post-breastfeeding). More complex surgery, OR time 3–4 hours.

Am I a candidate?

  • Done with planned pregnancies (a new pregnancy can reverse the result).
  • Stable weight for the last 6 months.
  • Non-smoker or willing to quit 4 weeks before and after.
  • Good general health, realistic expectations about scars.

2026 pricing in Medellín

  • Mastopexy with implant (augmentation mastopexy): USD 3,800 – 5,400.

Includes preoperative tests, OR, anesthesia, outpatient stay and follow-ups for 6 months.
